Kurt Schmid:

Born in Vienna, studied at the University of Vienna with Rudolf Jettel. Since 1963 solo clarinettist of the NTO. Since 1969 intensive work on Viennese music. Teaching since 1970, since 1974 professor at the Music Seminar Vienna; since 1986 focusing on composing. 1993 art director and conductor of the Viennese Clarinet Orchestra; holds master courses in Austria, Japan and Korea.

Since 1996 Vicepresident for matters of art of the Music Seminar Vienna. Since 1999 director h.c. and conductor of the Symphony Orchestra Oradea; since 2002 art director and 1st conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra in Lugansk. Since 2003 professor at the University in Lugansk. Since March 2004 doctor honoris causa at the University in Lugansk.

Kurt Franz Schmid:

Soloclarinettist of the NTO Tonkünstler Symphony Orchestra and professor at the J:M:Hauer Coservatory.
Founding member of “Zemlinsky Quintet Vienna” and “ Collegium Viennense”. Since 1977 intensive occupation with viennese folkmusic in the “Wiener Terzett” and since 1996 numerous concerts as G- clarinettist (“Picksüßes Hölzl”) with the “ Wiener Symphonia Schrammln”, own cycle in the Mozart Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus. Solistic appearance in the Golden Hall of the Weiner Musikverein , Konzerthaus and Radiokulturhaus, concert tours in Europe, Asia, North-and South America.
Numerous recordings for radio and TV as well as CDs, of which many concerts, sonatas solo pieces and a clarinet quintet were dedicated to him.
Since 1977 artistic-pedagogic work at Viennese schools and since 1995 master courses in Europe an Asia.
Studies at the Vienna University of Music with Rudolf Jettel and Peter Schmidl, as well as with Kurt Schmid.
