Seung-wook Byun

Graduated from the Department of Vocal Music, Hanyang University.
Completed studies at Verdi Conservatory, Vercelli Academia, and Parma Academia.
Winner of the Savigliano International Competition and laureate of the Valsesia Viotti Competition.
Made his debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan with Rigoletto and performed leading roles in over 20 operas, including Nabucco, Rigoletto, La Bohème, Turandot, Lucia di Lammermoor, Oberto, and I Masnadieri across Europe (Italy, France, Germany, Austria, the UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Luxembourg) and Cuba, in more than 120 performances.
Performed leading roles in Rigoletto and La Bohème at the Salzburg Opera House in Austria (1998, 1999).
Performed Nabucco at the Munich Theater in Germany (1988).
Participated in Germany-Switzerland-Austria tours (1998).
UK tour in 1999, covering 16 cities.
Performed leading roles with the Korea National Opera, including Simon Boccanegra, I Puritani, and War and Peace. Collaborated with major Korean opera companies such as the Korea Opera Company, New Seoul Opera Company, and Beseto Opera Company in operas like I Puritani, Rigoletto, La Bohème, Tosca, Lucia di Lammermoor, L’Elisir d’Amore, and The Tales of Hoffmann.
Starred in Chunhyangjeon in Tokyo (Japan), Beijing and Xi’an (China), and Ah! Goguryeo at the Pyongyang Bonghwa Arts Theater.
Collaborated with orchestras including the KBS Symphony Orchestra, Prime Philharmonic Orchestra, Mostly Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, New Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, A&B Philharmonic Orchestra, Bacau Philharmonic, Bulgaria National Opera Philharmonic, Toscanini Philharmonic, and Seoul Chamber Ensemble.
Currently a professor at Kookmin University School of Music in Seoul south Korea.
Guest professor at Henan University and Shandong Normal University in China.
