Vladimir Kharin

Vladimir Kharin is an accomplished pianist and teacher. Born in Moscow, he began learning piano at the age of six at the central music school for gifted children of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He graduated from Мoscow Tchaikovsky conservatory (class of prof. Evegniy Malinin and prof. Lev Naumov) and completed his post graduate course with a distinction in Folkwang University of the Arts (Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen) in Essen, Germany (class of prof. Michael Roll and prof. Boris Bloch)

He has awarded scholarships from DAAD, The Werner Richard – Dr. Carl Dörken and Annemarie & Fritz Schlesinger foundations.

Kharin was invited to the concert halls of Germany, Austria, the CIS states, France, Italy, Japan, China and Indonesia as a laureate of international competitions with recitals and chamber music, as well as concerts with orchestra.

He has appeared several times with recitals at the Ruhr Piano Festival and has recorded several CDs, including the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Jonathan Darlington.

Vladimir Kharin has taught the preparatory piano class for gifted children and young people at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien) since 2009. His students boast a wide array of scholarships and first place awards in major international contests, including the first place award at the international competition in Ettlingen, Germany (2020), first place at the Concertino Prague, Czech Republic (2021), the “Golden nutcracker” award at the XX competition for young musicians “The Nutcracker” in Moscow 2019, first place award at the III Moscow international “Vladimir Krainev” piano competition (2019), the second prize and audience award at the international contest of pianists in Aarhus, Denmark (2019), and many others.

The name of Vladimir Kharin as a teacher has long been familiar well beyond Vienna. He is often invited to judge contests and to teach master classes in various cities of Austria, Germany, Russia, Switzerland, Spain, Slovakia, China, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Canada and South Africa.
