Klaus Sticken

For the past twenty years the pianist Klaus Sticken has established his position in the classical concert scene. He performs at many venues including the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Liederhalle in Stuttgart, the Tonhalle in Zurich, the Philharmonie in Kiev, the Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Megaron in Athens and the Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow. His success in competitions in Vevey, Athens and Hamamatsu led to concerts with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre de Chambre Lausanne, the Ukraine State Orchestra, the Berlin Symphonic and the Moscow Symphonic Orchestra.

CD productions with Thorofon and cpo and numerous radio programmes on DeutschlandRadio, Radio Bremen, WDR, Bayerischer Rundfunk and Radio Suisse Romande reflect his varied repertoire, which also includes rarely performed masterpieces by Clementi, Reubke, Strauss, Martin, Honegger, Korngold, Rota and Schlee.

Klaus Sticken studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover with Konrad Meister and Vladimir Krainev. Other important teachers were Vitaly Margulis, Gyorgy Sebok and Alfred Brendel.

While pursuing his concert career Klaus Sticken taught at the “Hans Eisler” Hochschule für Musik in Berlin. He is now Professor of Piano at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna.
